Trail Angels

Trail Angels are individuals who help long-distance travelers with campsites and accommodation, mail-drops, rides to stores, and a variety of other services and amenities as gestures of goodwill.

Trail Angels are not representatives of the American Discovery Trail Society (ADTS). Trail Angels generally offer services to trail users free of charge, but some ask for compensation, such as fuel for their car.

Our State Coordinators may help link Trail Angels with confirmed long-distance travelers, but the ADTS does not endorse or approve individual Trail Angels. Some Angels are members of the Society, and we are are of many others, especially those Angels who live directly on the trail route, but ADTS has not formally interviewed, screened, assessed, or endorsed any Trail Angels.

The ADTS disclaims any liability for any and all negative encounters that may result between Trail Angels and trail users. All individuals (angels or travelers) are encouraged to use good judgement and to report any questionable behavior to the ADTS (800-662-2387) and/or local law enforcement.
