Dave Whitson began his walking career on Spain's Camino de Santiago in 2002. Since then, he was walked more than 30,000km on medieval pilgrim roads in Europe, written several guidebooks, and produced more than 100 episodes of The Camino Podcast.
In 2019, he set out to explore America on foot, on the American Discovery Trail. While his journey was interrupted by COVID, he ultimately walked from Lewes, DE to Denver, CO, including both the northern and southern branches of the ADT through the midwest. From Western Nebraska, he then left the ADT in order to follow the Oregon Trail to his home in Portland, Oregon.
In 2026, Dave will be back on the ADT as the director of the American Discovery 250 Relay. He might even end up walking a few stages along the way!
